After Daniela Pérez, 24, was reported missing — along with her car — earlier this week, law enforcement located her vehicle in a school parking lot in Ontario, Ore., Tuesday night. Officers found Daniela dead inside her car in what the Malheur County District Attorney’s Office vaguely described as circumstances that suggested “a criminal homicide.”

By the following evening, law enforcement had obtained a warrant for the arrest of that man, Connor Fry, whose cell phone pinged near a local shed.

“The team confirmed over the radio that no member of law enforcement had fired any type of weapon,” the district attorney’s office said, adding that “not knowing what possible threat remained,” officers spritzed the area with pepper spray, and when Fry did not emerge from the bushes, they fired “not deadly bullets” trying “to make Conner Fry come out of the vegetation.”

Fry still did not move, and officers surrounded his body, zip tied his wrists and checked for a pulse, the district attorney’s office stated, noting that officers determined he had “no signs of life” and “appeared to have died from a self-inflicted shotgun wound.”

Fry also had additional rounds of ammunition in his clothing, the district attorney’s office said.

It was a tragic double-death ending in a murder case between two people who reportedly did not know each other, in what may have been a burglary gone wrong, CBS 2 reports.
