The Android Dev Blog today released some dig and details on the Android Market - the Android interpretation of the iPhone ’s App Store . Stressing that it ’s a “ marketplace ” ( free , open , etc ) rather than a “ store , ” the Google folks have decided to not require an approval process for devs to have their software listed , unlike Apple’smysterious black box of approvalthat even the developer still do n’t fully understand . Which is great news for Android devs , but could be quite a handful for Google .
Android Market build up in all of the interchangeable functionality find in Apple ’s version : providing the infrastructure to host apps in a centralized place , versioning and update ascendency , and reinforcement for free and paid apps ( although the wage apps will not be ready for interpretation 1.0 ) . Apple ’s example of a exclusive , all - in - one app repository definitely make sense over a Symbian or Blackberry approach shot , with apps scattered across the web . But where Apple has two phones to address with , Android will finally have hundreds , so the system will need to be all the more robust to not allow unfitting computer code that does n’t want anterior approving to crash people ’s French telephone . Still , iPhone developershave not been to a fault thrilledwith Apple ’s maturation process , so this should be a ease for them . [ Android Developers Blog ]
