A new subject frame the unified model of black trap , a.k.a the doughnut model , on trial and conclude that dim holes are ( disappointingly ) perhaps not all mould like a box of glazed donuts flung into the strain . So what are they shaped like ?
Black holes appear to have several different kinds of conformation . The unified poser postulate that the logical thinking behind this is not that they are shaped differently , but that the perspective we ’re seeing them from shimmy .
To put it another way , it ’s like if you take care at a ring ( glazed , because presumably the jelly ones werealready mystical enough ) from above versus viewing it straight on or from the side . How you see the doughnut may switch , but its essential shape remains precisely the same .

A new study out of JPL that will be published in a upcoming article in Astrophysical Journal , though , looked at a study of data from over 170,000 black hole and conclude that , even if black hole do indeed have a halo - shaped structure , that ’s still not quite enough to explain the shapes they ’re run across .
To understand why , NASA suggests that you imagineflinging a box seat of glazed doughnuts into the air . Presumably , the statistical distribution of the Angle that you see those halo from should be random . The statistical distribution of how scientists were see cast of opprobrious holes , however , were not random . or else they were visualize that some shape clumping together .
So what are black holes shape like ? We ’re still not quite sure . But perhaps we ’re a little close .
