Aubrey Sitterson and Megan Hutchison ’s Archie Comics : Judgment Day returns for its 2nd installment June 19 , and io9 has a stalker preview today . TheArchie Horrormini - series event take piazza inan alternate version of Riverdaleplagued by demons that — terrifyingly — often spawn fromArchie ’s friends and loved ace , which complicates his mission to destroy ‘ em all .

Here ’s the prescribed synopsis of Archie Comics : Judgment Day # 2 ; the playscript is by Sitterson , artwork by Hutchison , colour by Matt Herms , and letters by Jack Morelli .

“ The epic Archie Horror event remain , as does Archie ’s pursuit . Jughead ’s trying his secure to act as Archie ’s conscience and vocalization of reason , but with so many the great unwashed once intimate and even beloved to Archie turning into diabolic freak , can Archie maintain his grasp ? Maybe if Jughead let more people on his side , they can talk some mother wit into him — are Betty and Veronica up to the task of bringing back the Archie they know and love from Alistair ’s clasp ? ”

In a statement provided to io9 , author Sitterson expanded a bit on his mental process . “ lector experience is always front of idea for me , along with my desire to create the kinds of cartoon strip that I desperately want but find to be exceedingly rare , ” he said . “ That have in mind craft something with tending , that reads as the result of a series of deliberate , conscious , and artful choices made at every footmark of the process ; this extends even to the printing process of the Quran and the new Archie Premium Event format . We do n’t want to make a quick , breezy , or even easy read ; there ’s an immense amount of thought going into every page of Judgment Day and , in keeping with that , it should be understand differently than other funnies . It ’s our hope that readers pore over every page and , if they find compelled to flip back to reread a legend or visit a piece of music of art … good . It ’s by invention . ”

Added creative person Hutchison , “ Aubrey will make notes in the handwriting about specific thing and I ’ll text him about different ideas — all thing enshroud in the ground , character design , visual cue , etc . We by design hide things visually for the proofreader to regain for themselves . Aubrey is a visual writer and I come from production design for film so we both build up globe for the lector to visually immerse themselves in . ”
