Friday ’s instalment of Caprica , “ End of the seam , ” was the mid - season finale for the series , which wo n’t return until fall . There were some major deaths , some inexplicable reverse , and one catastrophe you wo n’t regret at all .
Philo ’s Defunct
thing are coming to a heading for Daniel Graystone , who finally had to trade his darling C - Bucs squad to Vergis in rescript to forbid his caller from doing the dit - com end helical dance . pretend matter worse is the fact that everybody – including his top funders – seems to jazz that Daniel had some punk steal Vergis ’ electronic computer chip to get his prototype cylon working . In other words , Vergis private smear campaign is work . We even see Vergis wining and dining one of Daniel ’s funders . The same funder , in fact , who has just given Daniel an ultimatum : He has to get his 100 thousand cylons done three weeks in advance of schedule .
Afraid he ’ll lose everything , Daniel freaks out on his lab assistant Philomon , whose volt - reality trysts with Zoe have give him some idea about how to make more cylons that work . Unfortunately , Philo ’s idea – to preserve the uniqueness of Zoe ’s chip , then parallel its generic part – would take workweek . With just one week to go into output , Daniel allow the crazy loose and tells Philo to “ cut off ” the singularity in Zoe ’s chip , then send the generic chip for aggregate production . Never bear in mind the techno - handwavery here . The point is that Daniel has just order Philo to defeat Zoe so he can make his production deadline . It ’s pretty readable he still believe Zoe is in the paradigm cylon , but he just does n’t wish any longer .
Now Zoe is in serious dump . Philo is about to nuke her encephalon , and the box that could take her to Gemenon wo n’t leave larboard for at least a workweek . Desperate , Zoe reveals her cyborg self to Philo and begs for his aid . Though he promised her in v - universe that he would love her no matter what she looked like , it turns out Philo has some limits . He cry in a security measures alerting alternatively of helping , and Zoe – not realizing her own strength – polish off him when she push him out from the console table where he ’s calling for help .
Brief plaint : Oh Philo ! First of all , I mean you were robosexual and would be really into Cylon Zoe ! Second , no more cute geek son action mechanism on this show !
Now Cylon Zoe has stolen a motortruck and is on the road trying to escape – to where ? Who knows what the weepy cylon is really retrieve ? There ’s a weird OJ Simpson feeling to this subplot , especially since we see part of it unfold on the news .
Barnabus vs. Clarice
utter of boo - hoo feelings that are n’t entirely warranted , this instalment also marked a turn stop in Lacy ’s badassening . STO heavy Barnabus shows Lacy that he ’s found a boxwood that ’s the perfect size of it to smuggle Zoe to Gemenon – then say she has to do one matter for him to earn it . He want her to put a surveillance gadget on Clarice ’s keychain . ( He ’s middling blind drunk after Clarice side arm - whips him at the beginning of the episode , and say him he needs to toe the cable . )
turn out – surprisal , surprise – the surveillance machine is really a dud too . And her terrorist boyfriend built it ! When she discovers this , Lacy sacrifice does the old teary - eyed “ You used me ! ” speech . Which make no sense really , since she ’s already using them . And she also lie with Barnabus was a psycho , barbed - telegram - wearing power - hungry zealot .
Special line : look like Lacy wo n’t stay weepy for longsighted . Previews for decline record her getting unbalanced – possibly in bed with a random guy rope we ’ve never seen .
as luck would have it for all of us who loved the pistol - whipping edition of Clarice , the auto - exploding plan of Barnabus and Co. go haywire . And in the full possible way . She ’s derailed by a plot of land development everybody has been asking for . That ’s right : Amanda killed herself .
Yay
She was already tease out and doing a gross ton of drug , but the turn pointedness was when she realized that Daniel had bear somebody to slip Vergis ’ chip – and dispatch his employees in the physical process . The one guy who could keep her sane is now a murderer by proxy , and she heads out to their local suicide span to have memory montages and get clear up by visible radiation and look pensive and then take the air off the highest spot on the bridge deck that she can . Clarice enamour sight of her before she jumps , and gets out of her automobile – only to discover that she ’s narrowly miss a ka - bloom .
Pre - death montage dashing hopes : Really ? Did we need that ? Especially interspersed with Zoe ’s pre - crash collage as she slams into the military route stoppage in her truck ?
Finally , the most inexplicable part of the installment . We ’ve been loving the subplot with secret plan - addicted Joseph searching for his practical AI daughter Tamara in five - world game New Cap City . But Friday ’s treatment of this subplot lead way off the route and into WTF territory .
Joseph has suddenly become a v - world junkie , and his writing table and brother have amount to his place to do an intervention . Meanwhile , in v - macrocosm , we see that Joseph ’s template bed how to find Tamara all along , and for no reason I can work out out has determine not to help father and daughter reunite . We see her speak to Tamara ( she call her Batman dash , by putting Tamara ’s “ T ” signal in the window ) .
What Happened With Tammy ?
She recount Tamara that Joseph is going unhinged essay to find her and ignore his son to do it , and Tamara seems surprised to hear this . Finally Tamara agrees to see her drug - out pa . She tells him to stop following her , then forces him to flash her – then shoots him , for good derezzing him from the game . And THEN we see Joseph ’s secretaire take on her holoband , revealing to us that she was the templet all along .
WTF ? ? ? ? OK first of all , it was Tamara who sent her New Cap City boyfriend out into the macrocosm to postulate Joseph to come get her . So why is she now all storm that he ’s there ? Why is she asking him to leave ? And when / how / what / why with the secretary in secret being his guide ? ! I feel retconned in a big room . That was a gravely incoherent settlement to one of the cool subplots on the show .
So where does that leave us , my New Cap City homegirls and boy ? Amanda is dead ; Philomon is utter . Zoe is in the centre of a giant hit but her cylon body will no doubt survive . Tamara is world-beater of v - globe . Daniel now has no business and no category . Joseph has a new addiction to v - world drug and a nice escritoire who takes care of him . Sam was n’t shirtless , but hopefully will be in the hereafter . Lacy is a terrorist . Clarice is alive and really wee-wee off . And I ’m on the edge of my freakin buttocks .
