Disney has announced a slew of new inside information about its outgoing spin on The Nutcracker , call The Nutcracker and the Four Realms .
Directed by Lasse Hallström , it stars Mackenzie Foy ( Interstellar , The Conjuring ) as a vernal girl who let on on Christmas Eve that the world has four alternate realms . These are the Land of Flowers , Land of Sweets , Land of Snowflakes , and Land of Spice ( or Ginger , it was n’t made clear ) . Each is lead by a unique case played by the likes of Keira Knightley ( as the Sugar Plum Fairy ) , Helen Mirren ( as Mother Ginger ) , Eugenio Derbez ( as the Flower Realm King ) , and Richard E. Grant .
Morgan Freeman play the magician Drosselmeyer , and the Mouse King will be a CG creation with movement by professional dancer named Charles Riley , best - love by his stage name , Lil Buck . Ballet superstars Misty Copeland and Sergei Polunin will also have feature performances .
That was really all that was revealed about the moving picture , but it has a lush look very much in line with what you saw in the recent Beauty and the Beast plastic film . Nutcracker and the Four Realms hit theaters November 2 , 2018 .
