“We didn’t necessarily feel the need to be fully transparent with the public about that aspect of our engagement,” Sprouse explained to the publication. “What we wanted to do with Stephen [Gan] and the V team is make something that was kind of tongue-in-cheek about the nature of private versus public. We’re playing with the idea of perception.”
Palvin also noted that the couple wanted “to do it on our time.”
“When some people leaked the information that we got engaged, our PR team was like, ‘Hey, so you guys should do maybe a post about it or talk to this magazine or talk to that magazine,'” she recalled. “That really annoyed me because I knew we were building this story up. So, I’m very happy that we ended up doing it our way.”

Engagement speculationfirst began swirlingin March when Palvin, 29, hit the red carpet at Mammoth Film Festival in California with Sprouse, 30, wearing what appears to be a sparkling diamond ring set on a gold band. In the other images, Palvin’s band was turned around so the diamond was hidden from the exterior view.
At the time, reps for Sprouse and Palvin had not provided comment on their relationship status.

Though Sprouse and Palvin first met at a party in 2017, they weren’t romantically linked until 2018.
The couple made their relationshipInstagram officialwhen Palvin posted a photo with Sprouse for his birthday in 2018.
In November 2018, Palvin made it clear that she was in love when she toldVogue Australiaabout herromance with Sprouse.
“It’s not normal for me to have a boyfriend. I was single for six years,” she said. “It did pay off, I feel like I found the perfect guy. He’s very kind and gentle … That’s what I do on my day off: I spend it with the people I love and I’m very much in love right now.”
Just three months later, the couplemoved in togetherin Brooklyn, New York.
“We moved in we only had 4 mental breakdowns!” Sprouse jokingly captioned a since-deleted photo of himself and Palvin in their new pad.
Palvin alsoposted a selfie with Sprousewith the caption, “Two worms officially in the big apple.”

In a video forVoguein February 202, Palvin and Sprouse recounted their first date and first kiss. Sprouse said that on their first date in China, Palvin ate one-third of his burrito in a single bite.
“Then you asked me to kiss you!That was our first kiss, after you horked down a third of my burrito,” Sprouse joked.
Palvin quipped back that they’d been talking and texting for months, so she “had to take control” and recalled asking Sprouse, “Are you going to kiss me or what?”

In August 2022, Palvin and Sprouse were seen walking hand-in-hand on theWhite Noisered carpet at the Venice International Film Festival. For the event, Palvin wore a black sequin dress while Sprouse was in a black-and-white tuxedo.
