On Thursday, the pair shared a sweet photo in a joint Instagram post in celebration of their son Elijah’s 11th birthday. The photo showed a white birthday cake decorated with stars, candles and sprinkles with the message “Happy Birthday Elijah” written across the top in red.
“Happy Birthday to our beautiful son Elijah. Can’t believe you’re 11!” the couple wrote. “You fill our hearts with so much love and laughter. We love you. Papa and Daddy xo.”

The singer and his husband are parents to sons Zachary, 13, and Elijah.
In 2022, John shared withE! Newswhetherhis two sons were musically inclinedas the family appeared at the unveiling of Saks Fifth Avenue’s holiday windows in New York City.
“They are still so young, so not entirely sure,” the singer said. “But of course, whatever their dreams and ambitions are, my husband David and Iwill fully support them.”
John had previously brought his family on stage at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles the weekend before, where heperformed the final showon the North American leg of hisFarewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. He affectionately introduced his brood as the reason for his retirement.

“I am of course looking forward to spending more time with my sons,” John toldE! News. “I am also looking forward to being able to dedicate more of my time to other projects, like the Elton John AIDS Foundation.”
“You’re 11 and 9 years old now, and when I was your age, Icould never have dreamed where life would take me,” John wrote. “Looking back over the past 75 years, there is so much I am proud of, so much I have learned.
“When I was young, I was told to fit in, to do what others expected even when it didn’t feel right. Now I realize I can only be me. Being true to myself is what gave me my voice, and helped me face my greatest fears.”
John added: “Whoever you grow up to be, just be you — fully and completely you.”
