Samsung launched its BD - P1000 Blu - beam of light musician earlier this sunrise and I feel I want to put my cards on the board . I ’ve been watching the headliner and I have a gut belief that HD videodisc is break to lose this bout , friend . It will not vanish completely , but it will be an also - die hard down the line . Because the electronics market runs so apace now — stuff disappears faster they can pump it out in Taiwan . UMD is off the shelf , Zip drives gave up the specter , and thanks to Google , Microsoft Office might be getting consumptive pretty soon . The more thing commute , however …
Samsung has produced a very interesting Cartesian product . The BD - P1000 is a large , healthy equipment with a 20 2nd BRD load - time and a terse , clean picture . On a full 1080p solidifying , the picture is as crisp as fresh - baked pizza pie and the sound is surround - sound - alicious . Whereas our experience with Toshiba ’s offering was sub - par , the abbreviated time that we were able to expend with the BD - P1000 prove two things : Samsung sleep together their mother fucker and the BR is in all likelihood the knight to count on .
The scorecard reader does n’t do very much except video display still simulacrum at HD caliber . It ’s a nice summation , but nothing to write family about .

find free to flame me in a yr when HD DVD become the dominate king , but BR is game by Samsung and Sony as well as a few other players . HD videodisc gets lip armed service , but I do n’t see much else coming out of that camp except for computer peripherals , which have in mind HD might make a good fill-in sensitive down the line . In term of usability and literal content , however , BRD is probably the success .
We ’ll be getting a player next week , but until then , let ’s mull over the various possibilities for the two format and see what we , the Gizmodo quorum , finger .
