Hoda Kotbis sharing howSavannah Guthrie’snew book helped her get through a tough parenting moment.
On Wednesday’s episode of theMaking Space with Hoda Kotbpodcast, the twoTodayco-hosts discussed Guthrie’s new book,Mostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere.Kotb, who is mom to daughters Hope, 4, and Haley, 7, says that the book allowed her to find a connection with one of her girls.
“And it’s so interesting because there’s a part in here, I don’t remember where it is because I have so many dog ears, but it makes the parallel on how God loves us and how we love our own children. I had already read that a few months ago and it didn’t hit me but it hit me last night like it was meant for me in that moment,” she shares.

On an episode ofToday with Hoda & Jennaearlier this month, the mom of two talked with co-hostJenna Bush Hager, 42, about watching the Super Bowl with her kids. Her daughters, who are bigTaylor Swiftfans, watched the game in support ofTravis Kelce, but theywere concerned after seeing some confusing behaviorfrom the tight end, 34, on the field.
“One of the things they didn’t like happened on the sidelines and my daughter asked when Travis Kelce pushed his coach, my daughter said, ‘Why did he do that?'” Kotb said.
“Like why did he push that older man? But anyway it was one of those … he was frustrated he wasn’t in the game, whatever, there was a fumble, all that frustration. But all a little kid saw was strong guy pushing an older man.”
“I know, you know what? I’m with Haley,” Bush Hager agreed. “I was the Haley of that situation, I kept asking Henry, ‘What’s happening here? You want to be a team and part of being a team is you respect the coach. It’s sportsmanship. And I was trying to teach my kids that.”
Kotb added, “Yeah, and it’s weird because I don’t think so many young girls have been into football until this game. I don’t know that my daughters would’ve been watching it.”
The two agreed that many young girls were watching the game for Kelce, who is currently dating Swift, 34.
On New Year’s Eve this year, Kotbspent the night cuddling with her two daughters. All three were dressed for the festivities, each wearing “Happy New Year 2024” headbands. Kotb looked chic in a black silk top and long pleather skirt. The girls were both pretty in all-pink ensembles.
Other pictures were taken as the trio seemingly celebrated the moment the clock struck midnight while throwing around streamers. For those shots, Kotb was dressed more casually, in a T-shirt and jeans.
“Thank you 2023 for the love and the lessons. #grateful,” Kotb captioned the images.
