When Darren Kersey plugged his mobile phone charger into the force supply of a pushover shelter in Gillespie Park , Sarasota , all he wanted was a little rise of his battery level . He surely did n’t bank on getting arrest and spending the nighttime in a cell .
But that ’s what happened : law arrested Kersey , charge him with “ theft of utilities ” , after they spotted him charging his earpiece in the car park last Sunday . Unable to raise the $ 500 bond expect of him , he had no selection but to spend the night in jail .
In a subsequent law reputation , reports the Herald Trubune , Sgt . Anthony Frangioni compose that “ theft of metropolis utilities will not be tolerated during this bad economy . ” This might be a near sentence to orient out that itonly cost 41 cents to charge an iPhone for a whole year .
