Emily Weaver, 32, was arrested after her stepfather found the child’s body on Wednesday inside a vehicle outside her home in West Hempfield Township, Penn.
The child, who has not been named in the documents, died from “environmental exposure” according to the affidavit as well as astatementfrom the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office.
According toFOX 43, the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office ruled the death a homicide and said the child died from asphyxia resulting from hypothermia.
When discovered, the infant was “beyond help,” the DA’s office said in the statement, because the doors and windows were shut and the vehicle was in direct sunlight. Weaver was charged with third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment.
According to the arrest affidavit, the stepfather and another person went to Weaver’s home after they learned that her children had not been picked up from school. Once there, they saw the mother was “unconscious.” Once she woke up, she could not say where her 3-month-old daughter was, prompting a search that resulted in the stepfather discovering the body in the car seat.
In an interview with authorities, Weaver said she had no recollection of what she did after returning home from dropping her children at school, the affidavit states. In the days prior to the incident, Weaver used methamphetamine a couple of times, she allegedly told them. She also said she hid drugs in the house.

Ryan Paraschos, who was identified as father of two of her children, told officers that when he spoke with her that morning, she was “incoherent.”
The affidavit further states that Weaver has pleaded guilty to robbery, child endangerment and drug-related charges in the past.
The DA’s office statement said the investigation is ongoing. Information was not immediately available about whether Weaver had retained a lawyer or entered a plea.
