Pasadena officials identified the suspects as prospective UCLA recruits who attend Beaumont High School in Riverside County,USA Todayreported.The case has been referred to the juvenile division of the district attorney’s office, a Pasadena city spokeswoman told the outlet.

A spokesman with the Pasadena Police Department did not immediately return PEOPLE’s request for additional comment.

Earlier this month, Colorado coachDeion Sanderscalled upon the NCAA and the Rose Bowl to investigate the matter after the alleged locker room theft.

UCLA confirmed to PEOPLE at the time that the school’s athletic department filed a report with the Pasadena Police Department regarding an alleged robbery of unspecified items during the game between Buffaloes and Bruins.

Sanders, 56, addressed the alleged incident in his post-gamepress conferenceafter UCLA defeated the Colorado Buffaloes 28-16, claiming, “Our kids got robbed during the game last week. I think that’s a travesty.”

The Buffaloes head coach continued, “I would expect the NCAA to do something about that. This is the Rose Bowl.”

According toThe Denver PostandFanNation, at least five Colorado players — including Derrick McLendon, Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig and Jordan Domineck — alleged that jewelry, Beats headphones and thousands of dollars in cash were stolen.

On Monday, the Beaumont Unified School District released a statement regarding the high school players' suspected involvement with the crime,USA Todayreported.

“We are disappointed and disheartened to hear of the alleged involvement of Beaumont High School students in the incident at the UCLA-Colorado football game on October 28,” the statement provided toUSA Todayread. “We strive to promote strong character and integrity in our students, and the alleged actions do not represent our core values as a school, District, and community. While the students were not at the UCLA-Colorado football game as part of a school-sponsored event, the District is cooperating fully with Pasadena Police Department’s investigation.”
