A pair of sisters are fighting after one told the other she won’t help pay for her dream wedding dress.
The woman refusing to pay explains on Reddit’sAmITheA—— subredditthat the argument came about after her sister criticized her job in front of their family. This came after her younger sister first got engaged and the woman agreed to help pay for the wedding dress knowing she couldn’t afford it.
“Our parents passed away a few years ago, and I’ve been more of a parental figure to her since then. We’ve had our ups and downs, but I’ve always tried to support her,” she continued, adding later that when her sister “found her dream dress” that “was way out of her budget,” she then “asked if I could pay for it as her wedding gift. I agreed because I wanted her to be happy.”

She went on: “However, a few days ago, we had a family gathering where she introduced her fiancé to our extended family. During the dinner, she made a snide remark about my career, implying that I was still ‘playing with my computer’ while others had real jobs.”
The woman shared that she was hurt when her sister said these things. However, after she confronted her things quickly escalated.
“I told her that if she didn’t respect my career, she shouldn’t expect me to fund her wedding dress with the money I earned from it. She accused me of ruining her wedding and being petty,” she shared, before adding: “I’m torn. I want to support her, but I also feel disrespected.”

Another user thinks that the fight is all about jealousy. They wrote: “She sounds jealous of your success. She doesn’t get to put you down while her hand is out expecting money.”
